Sad to say, I'm really disappointed in the sailing mag we have here.

I'm not a mono hull fan, although there are some interesting things on them too, but virtually nothing is featured.

This mag has only multi hull adds in it. It's full of regatta results and one or two articles on some boat somewhere.

A mail to them enquiring multi hull articles etc they didn't bother to answer. There are no technical articles or boat building articles either.

Loose hands the most boring mag I unfortunately subscribed to. I catogorize it same as 'Di Huisgenoot' and 'Sarie' :(

I agree but the “cartoons” are good. The cartoons consist of the same boats being offered for sale month after month year after year. Our yacht brokers need to revise their ads. The editor is not a bad chap, there is just nothing noteworthy happening on the sailing scene in this country other than the clipper race. We wait for innovation from overseas no intelligent life here. Compare to the overseas mags ours is not even in there league .

I disagree. Boating is a huge huge field, just look how big this forum is.

There are lots of boatbuilders and lots of private guys building boats. They can do a nice feature on any one of those, showing how it is built, assembled and it doesn't have to be the trade secrets. If it's a free add for the boat builder then so be it, at least there would be some interesting stuff in the mag. It would bring a lot of of attention to where it is needed.

If they don't get a face lift, I won't subscribe to it next year.

Great idea to feature home building and related techniques. Many times I´ve gone through the process of wondering whether I could build a basic boast boat then chickened out feeling I lack the skills and knolwedge.

Yacht mags started post war as guides to getting on the water cheaply via ex-WD conversions and cheap builds, it would be nice to move away from the vulgarity of todays excessively expensive gin-palaces and target family affordable day and weekend cruisers.

I hate this culture of marina caravans with their 15 foot beam and endless 'bathrooms', lack of seamanlike handholds etc..

    Rant over. :)
