I'm doing a diesel/electric hybrid project and i need a belt & pull or gear that can transmit 10hp to my generator head, so i assume timing belt type gears and belt will work best. Does anyone know of a good source for them? I would much rather use them than old style chain since the marine environment is harsh on it..

For only 10hp the standard V belts are very reliable , come in many sizes and different shives are really cheap, compared to toothed drive stuff.

A B sized belt running on dual shives will last years!

If it were 100hp, 5 or 6 V belt setup would still be better choice,
