    I'm restoring a boat with 350 inboards with 1.25" x 80" shafts and a V-Drive.

One of the shafts needs to be replaced, and I found a 79 3/4" shaft at a good price. Would a 1/4" difference create any problem?

No Problem at all. A 1/4" difference is not an issue, but ,If tou wanted to make the prop locations exactly the same, the couplers slide onto the other ends of the shafts and can be located appropriately.
