Im repowering a 30ft boat that currently has a Bravo ll diesel sterndrive 2:1,since Im dropping a low rpm high torque 250 @2600 5.9 cummins Ill like to know if it is a question of just buying a set of gears say 1.5:1 or better 1.36:1and installing them or it gets more complicated $$$ than that. The local sales Merc. tells me that the Bravo ll won t stand the 600lb/ft this engine produces. What I m after is to get this (loaded) 10000 boat running at about 20knts @ 2200 rpm.Any of you guys with Bravo ll diesel and knowledge of its limits and posibilities?
