Is there a comparison chart of common yacht diesels on the web, with basic specs, especially weights? I'm interested in sailboats and trawlers under 50', so probably engines from 100 HP down to the very smallest.

NOt really ,most Mfg will only give out a power graph with HP/ torque and a line expressing fuel consumption .

To decide if an engine is suitable for extended use , what you need is called a "Fuel Map (or BMEP graph) which shows specific fuel consumption at various loadings.

By matching the fuel map to a propeller HP curve you can go for the lowest fuel consumption the engine is capable of.

Also be advised there are at least 4 or 5 HP "ratings" , you need the 24/7 workboat , not the far higher pleasure craft.

Great! $25 is steep if you're just fooling around, but if you're serious this is a heck of a time saver. Thanks!
