Design ratios

Is it practical to have a deck to keel height of 7.5 feet on a boat with a 10' beam and 34' length? What about a 14.5 foot keel to cabin top height on the same vessel? Is there a height to beam ratio that should not be exceeded, and is length a factor in this?

Well, yes and no are your answers. The questions are too broad to consider seriously, maybe if you clued us in on what you're attempting to do, boat type, SOR or design brief goals, etc. As a rule you can design just about anything, but without sufficient element clarification, it's crap shoot.

 

Actually, I posted the SOR over in the Kayak Tender thread, I just don't think anyone has looked at it.

 

The maximum height on trailer in most states is 13' from the road to the highest point on the boat.
