I have never built or designed a boat but have contemplated building a small(12’) fishing skiff. My original idea was to construct it much like a fiberglass paddle board and have a solid foam core with the glass laid over it. I haven’t been able to find anything online on weather it would work or not so any input or better ideas for design/construction are welcome

    Welcome to the Forum Taylor.

As a start, you could perhaps try renting or borrowing a paddleboard and testing it out to see how well it would work as a fishing boat (I have a feeling it might not work very well) - it would be worthwhile doing this first before investing time, effort and materials into building a board.

Duckworks has an extensive array of small boat plans for sale - have a look through their site and see if any of their existing designs might appeal to you?

Search you tube, there’s lots of that type of craft being built.

I have been on paddle boards a good bit and fishing from them isn’t as bad as you might think.
Also thank you for the link, I do see a couple I like I may opt for but I’d like to see if I can find more information on my original idea as well

Re your original idea, do you want to build a skiff in foam sandwich (ie something more like a boat with sides and a cockpit), or do you want to build something more like a foam sandwich paddleboard?

More like a foam sandwich paddle board but have the capability of using a small motor.

I fished from a paddleboard years ago. Things got rough and I tipped over and lost my gear. They were plywood then
