A 37 foot Repco fiberglass lobster boat, around 40 years old, is being widened aft, 24 inches at the waterline and 27 inches at the rail, by Wayne Beals Boatshop. No plans, just the experience of the builders. A cabin top originally designed for Wayne Beal design 32 foot lobster boat is also being installed.

Like making straight-leg jeans into bell bottoms!

^ As for jeans and other men's trousers, the current lot is a curse to mankind. They have tightly tapered bottoms that are difficult to put on and more difficult to take off. I call them pistol bottom pants.. .........excuse the distraction please.

Now back to boats..........

The rework looks clever and extensive with the new cabin top. What would be the outcome performance-wise of widening the bottom back through the stern?
