Freeship CNET virus

I downloaded a Freeship installer from CNET today and as soon as I executed Freeship, Microsoft Security Essentials popped up a virus cleaned warning. It was a trojan of some kind.

It also installed some malware/search engine redirects that messed up Chrome and Firefox, which MSE did not fix. The virus also started attacking SPYBOT teatimer, causing errors to popup.

Fortunately, Windows had done a small critical update patch on boot-up, so I was able to do a restore and get rid of the contaminated files.

Just thought I would let people know. It aint safe out there.

I normally check source forge first but for some reason went to CNET.
I believe the viruses have been eliminated but plan to do another check or two tonight to make sure a rootkit wasn't installed. And change email passwords, the only ones I allow to be saved.

CNET use to be a decent site but it appears to have failed to maintain its standards.
