    Yes, mdf covered in gloss Formica, for sheet goods designs it's a fast cheap mould for producing a one off with a gelcoat finish, you can then prototype the product and use it to produce a production tool of you are happy with it. Way faster and cheaper than finishing raw ply and closer to the properties of your desired product than a plywood plug.
