I know about the "good stuff" from Harken, Lewmar, Ronstan and British RWO.

Are there any alternatives out there wth slightly lower prices?
I've heard about a former Lewmar factory in Brazil that are making their own stuff now.

I do realise that quality=cost. But when you add up all the deck gear for a 30 footer that you want to make as a "budget model", these brands are a bit expensive, any suggestions?

    SailDesign Old Phart! Stay upwind..

Try Schaeffer (sp?) although availability in Sweden may be tough, or local manufacturers (Sweden must have some, or Finland/Denmark/Norway?)
If not, consider asking at builders of cheaper boats in your area. They must use something European. I can't believe the French have no hardware makers.

    Unfortunately...

No one makes any low priced boats in Sweden.
Taxes are so high here that it's pretyy hard to build cheap boats here.
But France is a good idea though, will do some more searching. In the meantime, if anyone else have ideas?

Try Antal from Italy, you can find them at www.Antal.it/ . I think that they have very high quality gear at competitive prices
