After the terrorism of the twin towers the IRA gave up almost the next day, unable to compete with terrorism like that.

Iv'e a feeling that the Somalians,-- unknown to them are going to end piracy on this planet as we know it.

Thats just the way this planet is, we tolerate until we can tolerate no more,-- then go ballistic.

    Thanks Brian.

Maybe we should start a thread in the Design section "Best Design for Pirate Ship - One Hull or Two?" etc.. recruit crew off the forum and make it a team effort?

Guys what doesn't make sense to me is

how do you climb up the side of at ship at sea

with grapling hooks ? and a rope ladder ?

    please something is wrong here

and the crew stands by looking on because the fu3ker has got a gun ?

from most of these reports there are 3 or 4 guys in some kind of a fast motor boat and 2 or more boats shooting automatic weapons

they are shooting at random spraying the bullets around
so far nobody has been hit
no ship has sunk from bullet holes

when that "pirate fu3ker" climbs up a rope ladder with both hands - a baseball bat WILL DO permanent damage

i have been reading this pirate stuff for years now
and still lots of it just doesn't make sense

I was assuming they had more than one boat - one standing off with an RPG or AK47s.
I would like to see a crew drop a drum of gas with a lit rag into their ridged-hull inflatable. Crush, capsize, burn.
The mercenaries under letters of marque is interesting - if they get hurt, I don't much care for them either...doesn't put our soldiers at risk and our government is distanced a bit by not being directly involved. Problem is, they would be considered pirates, too and how could it be verified that THEY weren't being pirate turds, as well? No, I think we better steer clear of that one.

I suppose before the US can take any actions against the pirates they probably have to build a stealth boat first. How else are there going to be movies with those things in them.

Just one or two sharp shooters per ship strategically located and no MF pirate boat would come near. They just die one after another while approaching a ship.

    Frosty,

If the guy is trying to board your boat on the high seas and doesn't appear to be some sort of navy, then I don't care if you sink the whole damn boat and leave them swimming around to be shark bait. If they shoot at you, shoot back. If they try to climb a rope ladder to get on your ship, dump oil on them and light it on fire if it makes you happy.

Posts like those from Fanie are what I'm talking about. When you start talking about looting the entire region and then hitting it with a nuclear warhead, in what way does that make you better than the pirate? In what way is that not genocide? You guys have been talking about extermination and just killing everyone there. You sound just like Osama Bin Laden. In what way are you any better? In what way are you even any different?

You guys need to think before you post. People like you are a good argument for gun control. If you guys are the ones with the guns, then nobody is safe.

    Warning

To All You Weasles That Deduct Points For Disagreement.

It Is Not For That Reason. It Is For Rude Behaviour.

To Deduct Without Putting Your Name Is Digusting Behaviour In Itself.

The Fact That You Were Only Able To Deduct 5 Points Makes It Quite Obvious Who You Are. For Someone That Has Been Here A Long Time--such As Myself I Can Deduct A Whopping 25.

I Dont Use It Because I Would Wipe Out Every Point You Had And Put You Negative.

    Boating Pays Off
    Somali Economic Stimulus Package!
Boat Sales Soar as Money Pours In
    Somalian Pirates Somalian Pirates
Each truck is carrying five freshly-made, 21st-Century pirate ships. Boat builders are working overtime to supply the demand as boat buying fever sweeps the Somali coast.

Until last Sunday and the death of five of their fellow buccaneers, for young Somalis, piracy offered a life of boating fun, camaraderie, adventure and easy money. Last year Somali boaters took in over $80 million in ransom money. Their activities have been a bonanza for the local economy which heretofore had been living on U.S. AID shipments of subsidized grain and an occasional local goat. These young boaters have been buying grand houses, luxury cars, and attracting beautiful wives. In the last two weeks they have gotten a taste of the yachting lifestyle when they hijacked three yachts, one a sailboat with a crew of four and a 3-year old child aboard, another that was a luxury cruising catamaran in the Seychelles, and a third yacht with three men aboard sailing to Madagascar. There are reportedly over 100 of these little, high freeboard pirate ships currently in use. To find out what is really going on -- hang your mouse.

Well Ken, it seems like extreme measures, and they are. In a nutshell and just on the surface -

Firstly ask yourself how many innocent people still have to suffer, directly and indirectly at the hands of these pirates ?

If you have been a victim, wife and daughter ***** in front of you, then they smash your skull but you survive by miracle, only now you have about 20% eyesight in the one eye, the other is blind. You also lost your taste, raw potatoes taste the same as steak. Think this is extreme ? Will you still want to go and 'negotiate' some deal with them ?

Why doesn't the Somali gov put a cap on their pirates ? Is it because they support their actions beacause they gain income from it ?

Isn't this an unspoken declaration of war ? Or is it only when land gets taken from another country that there is war action taken ?

When is theft not theft any more ? In $ value, where is the amount limit that it becomes theft ? When is killing not murder any more ? How many dead is then considered murder ? Over 10, 50, 100.... can you name the quantity ?

    Well ?
