Please split Multihull category into Cruising or Racing

To the wet and bedraggled gods of the forum...

The current Multihull section is constant shifting struggle between

them who'd like to get help fitting a woodburning stove on the poopdeck,

and them who know the correct cuff length for the next Jacques Vabre!

Please deliver us from this never-ending confusion;

Cast each into a runnel of their own!

 

I don't think thats necessary or desirable-we all learn from the varied posts.

I agree with Doug. Everybody already has to toggle through several categories and Blackburn should learn about wood burning stoves....

 

Flat Chat was a racing catamaran that swept the board in races on Pittwater run by the multihull division of the RMYC. She was sold and went to Queensland where she is now operating as a charter boat. A real life blurring of the definition cruising or racing.

The question is would the Flat Chat be sailed back to Oz over the ditch? As for splitting the forums into cruising and racing I think best to leave as is, it has served well to this point and I like reading about woodburning stoves as well as multihull cruisers and race boats.

Well when I think about it, I actually do have eight stoves and six fireplaces myself (not all in the same place, fortunately).

 

I've never thought about chimneys as status symbols before....Do smudge pots for the gnats count?

 

I'm actually quite keen on the recirculating type wood combustion heater effective and reasonably clean while keeping the bulk of the smoke out of your house. I recall reading about a very early sailing catamaran built in Tasmania that was heated by a pot belly stove total anathema for the modern weight conscious multihuller

 

During the cold autumn nights on board our cruising "Nugget", we had a light weight flameless catalytic heater. Worked very well.

 

Girlfriends are much more fun than heaters, multi talented too
