Cat Boat rudder

    I own a 18 ft Marshall Sanderling cat boat with a shallow barn-door rudder. The boat is only sailed in deep water and the rudder is mounted with pintels. What would be the expected results of using a 36 inch depth modern foil rudder perhaps even with end plate wings on this boat other than ripping rudder off if I hit something very very unlikely where and how boat is used.
