engine box

    I am getting ready to build new raised engine boxes for a 28 bertram FBC. I will be using divynicell as core material and plan to use epoxy for resin(system three). Should I be concerned of deformation/degradation with the heat from the motors(yanmar diesel) using epoxy. There will be some sound insulation inside the box so that should help.

    Depends on how close to the exhaust it will be. Epoxy will start deforming at about 220 F

    gonzo,

    One would assume that normal boatbuilding practices are followed, of course epoxy will melt if anyone is stipid enough to have it next to 1000 degree exhausts, I think we must accept standard building practice exist.
