    Hello all,

I have been presented with an opportunity to get my hands on a recently rebuilt complete Crusader 454 XLI motor. I am trying to confirm installation dimensions as well as engine output specs. I am unsure of the year at this point so not too sure how much I can expect. Does anyone have any information on the years that this motor was produced, dimensions, specs etc? I have some height concerns with the MPI motor compared to my 4bbl 7.4 Merc currently. I believe that the manifolds are of a lower profile, it's the intake that I am concerned with. Any input is appreciated as always.

    ‘‘ ENGINE ROTATION

Engine Rotation is identifi ed as “RH” or “LH” with the engine model number. Rotation always is determined from the fl ywheel end looking toward the front of the engine. In some instances, propeller shaft rotation may be opposite to that of the engine.

When ordering a replacement engine, production block or parts for the engine, be certain to check engine rotation.
DO NOT rely on propeller rotation in order to determine engine rotation.

    LEFT-HAND ROTATION is STANDARD ROTATION.
(Flywheel turns counterclockwise when viewed from fl ywheel end of the engine.)

    RIGHT-HAND ROTATION is OPPOSITE ROTATION.
(Flywheel turns clockwise when viewed from fl ywheel end of the engine.)

    7228sedan,

I was wondering if you are interested in selling the 454 xli engine or if you know where I can get one.

Hi AKH, welcome to the forum!

I decided on a reman long block for my Merc. The height of the MPI motor is a little tight in my bilge.
The one I was looking at was at a local marina advertised on Craigslist.

    Good luck on your search!

Thanks for the info. Do you happen to have the Craigslist link still available?

Sorry, I do not. It was almost a year ago.

    Hi AKH,

On AliBaba, located in Indonesia, 2 × 454 XLi (an LH and a RH rotating engine I'll guess, since they're from one boat) currently asking US $ 2,400.00

Maybe a good independent (?) survey there, and export to the US is possible . . ?

Here's Crusader 454 on eBay, mostly in the US, some MPI shown there right now.

    Good luck !
