Any chance of forgetting about the unrelated stuff and getting back to helping Stoney cross the ocean of his choice. I do think he needs to make a choice of ocean and of direction in which he wants to cross.

I've had my share of nutty ideas there Moving and occasionally it is necessary for a dose of reality to come along.

Sorry but this is one of the nuttier ideas to hit the site in a while. Yes it can be done but guaranteed eventually some midget will come along and beat the pants off of everyone in a three foot copper bathtub.

build a twenty footer and start sailing I think was the best advice that Stoner could have gotten

once he is good and familiar with the water he will better understand why an inexperienced hand is the last guy that should attempt this kind of thing

Not one to discourage genius, it might be a good idea to look at some small craft already out there on the oceans. The Mini Transat is run by guys in boats of 6.50 meters.
Beneteau builds a good boat in this class the 210, 211 and now the 217 these are outstanding boats and will get you across the ocean.

Stonepirate spends plenty of time abusing other people in another sport, despite the fact that he's a complete newbie in that sport too.

He's always sure he's right and that from his first few weeks in a sport, he knows more than those who have done a lot more and have demonstrated experience and expertise. Basically, just a big mouth and ego.
