what's the material of this T-top frame ?

look at the picture
Is it 100% aluminum or aluminium magnesium alloy ?
It is American made, looks so beautiful and shinning.
I really want to know how to make it .

 

In the first place id go is an aluminium supplyer/dealer and pick his brain and then find another one and so on till you been to them all . Some where out of the lot you will get 2 or 3 answers the same so thats the way to go !!
Make sure the console is strong and bolted to the floor and beyond !! the windage and wind lift when motoring even from a rag top could tear the lot out of the boat and make one hell of a mess !!!.

Did you look closely and see the main supports tubes are not completely round but have a flat on the inside surface ?? almost " D " shape ! they always remind me of a jungle gym !!

 

The material is an aluminum alloy of course, pure Al is never used because it has very nasty machining properties and is too soft.
The immaculate surface can be the result of careful polishing and anodizing, but it may also be paint. Look closely at alloy wheels: once they were all anodized, now most are spray painted to look even better.

 

its is anodized alum. it comes brushed or polished what you are showing is Polished vert difficult to weld !

Hi hyboats - The tubing is aluminium alloy probably of the 6000 series. This is because most extrusions are 6000 series. They are bent, then bright anodised then welded. A special welding process is used that copes with the anodising. Normal anodising can't be welded using The TIG process. Cheers Peter S
