With the completion of my little boat and some river miles under her now I have a question about the foam.I've floated over a few rocks put some scrathches on the outer skin all is good. One day as I rowed the boat to shore I high centered on a round rock about 3" in diameter the boat stopped we got out fished a little continued the float all was good. When we got the boat on the trailer I was surprised to see and feel a nice long dent in the bottom were the rock hit.The dent was right under my feet and I didn't feel the floor lift/flex at all, this is whats go me miffed the boat floor has no cross braces or supports the bottom is 10'x4'.

So my question as to why the floor didn't flex, floor maybe too thick?its 1/2" M80, my understanding was the foam should flex under impact?? Maybe my outer skin is too light?

    heres the boat.

Yes, it should have flexed. Actually, it very probably DID flex. You just did not notice...

The flex goes from side to side, not a sudden dent in the middle. That makes it harder to detect.

Well you're probably right the floor had to flex some.I just didn't notice.Judging by the depth of the dent my outer skin is not thick enough.

l'll have to do some tests to see what it takes to resist the denting.

If you expect to hit something, then beef up. I had a racing sailboat with a 0,3mm outer skin. Not intended to hit something...
