Hi everyone,
I am planning to build a sailboat 1.8 m wide/ 7 m long,, flat bottlom, no keel instead I use leeboard. build from foam.
I have a local supplier that has Airex PET and PVC from, PET is cheaper,
For this size boat which one should I use?
Which one better for the bottom?

I have some experience with Airex PVC. I'd rather use Airex for current projects. . You can feel free to use it for your project.

Papety, this sounds like an interesting project - can you tell us a bit more about it please?
Do you have any drawings (or sketches even) that you can post, showing the design?

This is rudder design and needs a very strong center post. It is a cantelever design and all the forces acting is in the attachment point. Maybe if you provide a drawing for proportion somebody can point you the right way.

The leeboard keeps the boat running straight and prevents sudden tilt with wind gust by resisting movement. So the forces are greatest when the boat is moving forward at its max speed and the leeboard is turned to max.

If leeboard is not suitable than I will use the matt layden chinerunner concept, it is important for me to be able to beach the boat and sail in show water.
