Coopers Seabird 37'

    I have a Coopers Seabird and need to remove the propshaft. Looking at the job it looks as though I will have to remove the rudder completely. However, I noticed what appears to be a filled but inclined hole through the rudder which aligns with the shaft when the rudder is turned to starboard. Is it possible that I should drill this "hole" out so that the shaft can be pulled through the rudder?

    Any comments would be appreciated as I would prefer not to remove the rudder.
