Me homophobic? If I was... Someone better tell my husband and the boys, that I hate poofs :D

No, I'm just concerned about Frosties arse. He's an "older" guy and all manner of health issues become a concern when you transition from middle age to grumpy old man.

    Dan Dan noodles anyone?

I've enjoyed this dish in London and San Diego, but it was here in Melbourne that I found the perfect Dan Dan noodle dish.

Many refer to Dan Dan noodles as the asian equivalent to Italian spaghetti bolognese.

The Shanghai Dumpling Palace makes what I consider to be the best Dan Dan noodle. Many times over, this eatery has been asked to share their particular recipe by foodie magazines like gourmet traveler without success.

Dumplings are their signature dish so I can't imagine why they would not share this particular dish. I still cannot mimic their dish perfectly, but I'm getting close.

when i'm in a hurry,.i use ramein noodles and pesto sauce from a jar. italian flavored chinese pasta dinner in 3 minutes.

i save the ramein pork flavor packet for a different dish.

any suggestions along those lines? no refrigeration. prompt to prepare?

    In fact yes barnacle...

I had been pondering the modern miracle of instant cup-a-soups and those two minute noodle packets.

Combining a stock cube, dried fried shallots, freeze dried veggies and udon noodles with a little boiled water sounds a little ugly but had proven tasty.

I only buy pork flavor and shrimp flavor ramein packs. why? Because I can buy boullion cubes in beef, chicken, and tomatoe flavors. But not in pork or shrimp flavors. I use the ramein pork flavor packet to intensify my sausage gravy. And the shrimp flavor packet goes in my seafood gumbo, when the tiny sun dried shrimp aren't available, as the recipe calls for! :)

I don't get crazy with ramen noodles, because I usually don't cook them unless I'm in a hurry. But almost any version of them can be improved with granulated garlic powder and onion powder, and your favorite hot sauce, cayenne pepper or other ground chiles.

If I have eggs in the fridge, I usually beat one or two with a fork and add them to the noodles while stirring them -- actually more like swirling them, egg-drop soup style. I also like to add shredded cabbage or lettuce.

Adding lettuce may sound weird, but it works. Years ago I used to eat a low-dollar breakfast at a Chinese-owned diner. He sort of stir-fried shredded lettuce on his griddle, moving it around quickly at the hot end, as a side dish to complement what was otherwise a fairly ordinary American-style breakfast with eggs, choice of meat and hash browned potatoes.

hot lettuce is good two ways I know of. In a wilted salad is one. Make a fresh salad any ingredients you like. Heat itallian dressing and pour over salad. Distinct difference from the cold salad.

The other use is lettuce tea. A great sleep inducer. Cures insomnia for the night with out drugs. It';s an OLD GRANDMA'S cure for sleeplessness. It WORKS! :)

OK, stop teasing us. I think I can handle crispy chicken wings, but it would be nice to have a recipe for 'Asian slaw.'

    Chuckle... Easy as.

Equal parts of white and red cabbage, one third carrot shavings. I think I've described the chilli lime mayo in an earlier post.
