Sharks fin soup is tasteless and yet is 60 dollars for a small bowl. It is heavily spiced to taste.

It is desired even against knowledge of the cruelty and illegal capture of the shark many having fins cut off and thrown back in ---illegally.

yet it is popular for one reason.--it is expensive and eaten at corporate dinners and lunches to suggest wealth by money minded eastern .

Why would you buy a Hummer, performance, economy , looks nice or that it costs a lot and makes you look rich.

I wasn't no. But you were.

    You said:

To demonize is to make into or like or represent as a demon. A demon being the devil, evil spirit etc etc..which if one believes in God, as you have stated, is the foundation of your morals. Hence it is your morality, one else's!

Depends if you, just like now, try to constantly take the "moral" higher ground and post like it is your monopoly on such things . Everyone has their own opinions and experiences, yet you try to dismiss them like swatting a fly because others don't agree with you. So what, who cares??...let it go! You may sleep better a nights!

I see why Frosty irks you now. He simply questions what you say...which you appear not to like!

I don't give two hoots if someone agrees with me or not...but I'll allow others to have their own opinions and not impose mine on theirs or read meaning into something that clearly is not there other than in my own mind.

Wow - a family of four having cheeseburgers would be $120... a big jump from the $6 it costs me to make four. No different than the huge price for some fish that are flown in here in the states, but still. How many months do you go without before $30 sounds fair for a burger :)

Took me a couple of years to get used to it. I think totally in Yen now. But when i convert some meals I have had back into $ or £ scares the ***** out of me...but it is the norm here. Like it or lump it :(

Had a 'simple' no nonsense sushi meal 2 weeks ago (a treat). This was at a half decent sushi bar. It cost 18,000Yen which is $110, for a basic simple, not filling meal.

Took a friend out with his wife recently, was a nice traditional Japanese such bar. A meal for 4 cost $700.

If that's true, obviously a cheeseburger in Japan doesn't hold down the same spot in the food chain that one in the states does....

I wouldn't know, though. The last time I was in Japan was in 1972, and fast food to me was a plate of chop suey in whatever bar I happened to be crawling through when I got hungry.

Anyone champing at the bit to tell me chop suey isn't Japanese might as well save his typing fingers; I'm quite aware that it's a Chinese/American concoction. That doesn't change the fact that you could order it in any sailor bar in the far east, back when I was in the Navy....:)

A bowl of noodle soup in Thailand is 1 dollar and some cheaper.

A weekday special Mc sausage with egg muffin and coffee is 2 dollars.

I don't like Japan but ive never been there since I was told it was 200 dollars for a taxi from the airport and the hotels is a cupboard in a wardrobe. I don't need that.

Your gonna have a great time in Pang na. 30 dollars should cover the week.

Gooday 'addy' - 'the pipe' - 'yo ho ho' & others. Everything is not expensive - it just depends on your tastes & location.

Here in the - wonderful tropics in Northern Australia; avocados are $2 for 4 'A' grade & large; Lychees are $9 a kilo when in season for top quality but we have a tree that gives us over 200 kgs a season (so we freeze & eat all year around; mangoes are from $1 to $3 each depending on season & quality - again we have a 'Strawberry mangoe' tree that supplies 400 kgs - enough for the whole year. We sgrow our own pineapples, & lots kof chillies - big-ones - - small-ones - mild ones hot ones & some very different tasting ones. I catch lots of fish in a river - only 400 mtrs from house & our local butcher is a friend of ours - - so for some fruit & vergie - we get some meat. LIFE IS GOOD - we're 15 ks from a small township & 'big-town' is only another 35 ks away. LIFE is better-er than good - it's grand. Haven't had a 'take-away in over 3 years. We could eat kangaroo, wallaby, peacock if we wished but they are either wild or pets & that is just not on. Well hung eye-fillet steak - 350 grams (12.5 oz) is $9; the best 'barramundi' is $14/kg.
Land rates on 15.5 acres are $550.00/pa, insurance is 15% more. Had to get another car - my Ladies was acting like a battery & 'ate' 4 radictors in 10 months - so got $500.00 for Mitsubishi Lancer, 1997, sedan, 350,000 ks - trade-in - - got 2010, Hyundai Getz % door hatchback, 38,000 ks, still under warrantee for $9000.00. It uses $10 less per week on fuel - cost 10% less for yearly registration & insurance & - ha - yes - there is more - is big & roomy inside & goes like a rocket on only 6.1 ltrs /100 ks. Un-leaded gasoline is $1.50 ltr - so $9/100 ks - ( $9/63 miles). Tires are $55 to $68 each.

Oh & my little Subaru, 1.8l, station wagon, 4x4, 1994 cot me $1000 & 4 years & 200,000 ks later is still in great shape & only cost me about $700/year top keep in top condition. Tractor worth $14,000.00 - cost me $5,000.00 with 6 implements & is 65 hp Massey 1967 2x4. Property & all gear for sale for $550k cause we are getting to old to keep it 'smick' & we want to do other things in our older years. Mother bears need to be close to their cubs & pappa-bear is going sailing in SE Asia.

Down side to OZ is - I can't quite live on my Pension but it get close. Average temp is 18 to 28 degrees with only 8 to 14 days a year starting at under 10 degrees but they warm-up to 24 - before 1000 hrs. Water is free - we pump our own but haven't started the pump in over 16 months. Electricity is 20.7 cents/ kwh - so our bill is about $220 per 1/4 year/

Lifes's good - - Temp's just grand & best of all FOOD is SUPA & affordable.

Y'all enjoy your day - get in sunshine (but protected) - get out on the water, have a 'elevenes' l& spme 'sundowners' or 3. Ciao, james

PS - Oh did I mention that the food is fabuloussssssssss, thought I did. & cheap too. ciao, jj
