Beam Measurement

    Where is the beam on a boat measured at. Across the top of the boat or across the bottom.

    What are you measuring for? Some calculations require a certian beam measurement. Generally, the beam is stated as the widest part of the hull, no matter where it occurs.

    Except in hard chine planning boat power calculations where your generally thinking about maximum chine beam.
