I've just started getting interested in boat design and decided I wanted to try and make my own small pontoon boat. My friend and I came up with a basic design and it had two pontoons. Now that I do a little more digging, I realize that pontoons aren't easy to find and aren't that cheap. I want to make a simple 7' to 10' boat for quiet cruising and relaxing on a new lake right down the road. Some help on pontoons or other design ideas?

Here are a couple of quick pics... 1 of a 500 lb capacity pontoon and the other of a 800 lb capacity pontoon. dimensions on the pictures are feet. These would be easily made of 1/4" ply.
