Laminating plywood to freeboards

Thanks all boat builders out there for your continuous help with our project. Now for some more questions.When laminating 6mm and 9 mm ply to the free boards, which thickness should go on first? Do we use just epoxy resin to laminate, or should we add a filler to it to get a glue like consistency?

 

Probably just easier to lay the 6mm on top of the 9mm, as the 9 mm is heavier, but it doesn't really matter. The thicker ply can ensure a bit flatter result, depending on what you are laying it on.

You can use straight epoxy, but for a really top job, they recommend thickening it to ketchup thickness , with say, 50/50 microballons and cabosil, to make sure that no resin runs out of position, leaving a void. Quite a few people will drill 1/8" holes at say 1' distances to ensure they get a visible goo oozing out over the panel.
