Scaling up an umpire launch

    Has there been any jumbo sized "umpire launch" style boats? I think it would be something like a Ferrari or one off race car that a rich guy would do. Something like the commuter yachts on the Hudson river at the turn of the century. A purpose built boat that was only good at speed and perhaps good looks. Just wondering. Thanks

    Those launches don't need to go very fast, just enough to keep with the crew rowing. One of their main attributes is to have very little wake.

    Commuters and launches have come in just about every size imaginable. What size where you thinking? As Gonzo mentioned, the Umpire launches weren't especially fast.
