    Just a reminder:

The Third Chesapeake Power Boat Symposium will be held at St. John’s College, Annapolis MD on June 15-16, 2012. This symposium will feature twenty papers and presentations on a wide range of topics on the design and construction of powerboats including topics relating to hydrodynamics of hull shapes, survival in heavy weather conditions, testing techniques, motions in waves, maneuvering, new design tools and specific high performance design.

Authors include Navy, and Coast Guard personnel, university researchers and authors from Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand, and all over the U.S.

This symposium is sponsored by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Professional Boatbuilder Magazine, Stevens Institute of Technology, and CDI Marine Band Lavis Division.

The first two Chesapeake Power Boat Symposia, held in 2010 and 2008, featured similar cutting edge papers and provided a forum for professionals in the recreational, commercial and military power boat communities to exchange technical and practical information, with attendance exceeding one hundred at each event. The CPBS is intended ultimately to be a counterpart, to be held in even years, of the internationally successful Chesapeake Sailing Yacht Symposium, which has, since 1974, become the premier sailing yacht technology forum and is now held in odd years.

Registration information, paper abstracts, and information on accommodations and transportation are available at http://www.powerboatsymposium.com/ Note also that there is a very low rate for students.

Albert Nazarov, known here as Alik, will be presenting a very interesting paper on the use of parametric methods in initial design. I will also be there. Anyone else?

Thanks for letting us know about the videos.

    Is another powerboat symposium planned?

I understand there is a plan to do this in June of 2014, again at St. Johns in Annapolis, though ultimately there is a discussion about varying the location (to Florida maybe?). If anyone is interested in volunteering to help, please let me know and I will put you in contact with John Hoyt.

The 2014 Chesapeake Power Boat Symposium is planned for May 23-24 2014 at St. Johns in Annapolis (same as before).
