Stanchion angle due to deck camber

    I am fitting stanchions on a new build 35ft ketch.The stanchions are pretty much vertical (90 deg to W.L.) ,except those on the fore deck, the foremost stanchion leaning in 5 deg .Is this normal/acceptable?

    You can purchase 4 degree stanchion bases..

    It is acceptable as long as you calculate them for that slope (compression+flexion). If you calculate them in pure compression, then it is not acceptable.

    Stanchions that lean a little inboard are preferable.
    It helps the optics too, when viewed from astern or ahead vertical stanchions present an optical delusion where they
    appear to lean outboard.
