    Local " open to the sea "centre consoles use washboards, like the companionway slides of a sailboat hatch. Keeps heavy wash out of the cockpit and provides security for passengers. Its a very simple solution.

    A med style boat will often be BOX shaped. Mooring fees are very high. If you have a 10 meter berth , you want the biggest ten meter boat to fit into it. This is the great disadvantage to outboard motors hung off the transom... they turn a 10 meter boat into an 11 meter boat and ...problems. . Best to get the motor forward.
