I have a old 34ft catamaran you could use... it is in the california, so you'd have to transport it to the gulf first. Not hard to do because it is broken down into the hulls already. Need the engine(s).

    All I could find

"Welcome to the first post of our Skoota 28 building blog. And guess what? There’s nothing here yet as we haven’t started building. I thought I’d take this quiet time (before the build starts) to set up the website and blog."

Have you got an address a bit closer to the info ?

Design just takes you to an overview of benefits,
    not a

" look at this blog that a builder has just started"

I didn't look very deep. When I saw most of the same pictures from the website, I didn't look any deeper. I thought you ment that you couldn't open the link.

I apologise for not replying to this thread earlier. I was motoring my Skoota 28 seventy five miles from Port Ludlow, Wa, to Saturna Island, Canada for the summer and have only just got back online

I posted the link because some of Les topics , eg Home, Why a Catamaran?, Power vs Sail (Catamaran), Why the Skoota 28?, Helm Station

are his thoughts and words, not mine and he has actually been on board my Skoota

A patio boat or houseboat will disintegrate in rough ocean water,
they are just not designed for it.

Not sure why my cataraman is not of interest. It is an solid ocean going boat that took a family of 4 from Alaska to Mexico. Sleep in the hulls, lounge on the deck.

As I said in an earlier post, I have done much of the trip that Elgringo plans to do. I sailed a 32ft catamaran from Grenada up through the islands to the USA and then back from Florida to Bahamas, Cuba, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Panama

I sailed another 33ft catamaran from Grenada to Venezuela, Curacao, Colombia, Panama

No way would I do any of it in a pontoon boat. Except maybe the Florida - Bahamas bit as, compared to the rest, crossing the Gulf Stream is easy, even in a cold front.
