Our next design, a 17' outboard skiff. Wood composite strip construction. Light weight, warped v bottom. Standard design is for an open cockpit, but can easily be built as a center or side console. Plans and kits will be available soon.

Draft in only 6" with a reasonable load, so she would make a great hull for a flats boat.

Going with composite strip for the hull means no expensive okoume plywood! The flat parts (transom, stringers, sole, decks) can be from less expensive marine fir plywood.

Im looking for builders! On the first few that are built, we will give a rebate on the cost of the plans when materials are purchased from our store (epoxy, glass, etc)

a couple renderings. More renderings and info on the design are here... http://gulfstreamcomposites.forumotion.com/t45p15-new-skiff-design

What is it that makes this skiff stand out from all the others.

What other design would you like to compare and contrast ?

    Build method
    Materials required
    Quality of plans
    Availability of cnc kit/files

    Lots of way to compare

More performance wise joel, is it a superior ride to comparable hulls , is it more stable , more room. Or is it designed for quick easy build. Just wondering what your goal was when you designed it. It is a nice looking hull.

compared to some its wider, more stable, compared to others its not: need another boat to compare it to ? I have a full detailed hydrostatics report with stability curves etc, but none of that is of value with out a second set of data to compare to.

The goal was an easy to build, economical general purpose skiff that could be build with readily available wood core materials. That was the reason for going with strip core vs. stitch and glue with expensive marine ply. It can take a wide range of power and can be built as either on open tiller boat, or with a center console. Versatile, easy and economical to build.

    Hope that helps.

Looking forward to photos of the 1st build. I wasn't comparing it to a particular design . Just that style of boat in general . You have answered my question. Thank you.
