Casting lead

    I'm in the process of building up a few replacement centerboards and am trying out a new design, which includes having to cast about 100 lb of lead into a shape that will be the same as the lower 18" or so of the board. It will be encapsulated in fiberglass and carbon fiber, as will the upper part of the board. In the past I have cast smaller amounts (approx. 35 lbs) of lead into flat plates, but this project will involve more lead. My plan is to make up a female mold of plaster of paris inside a metal can, heat it up, and pour the liquid lead into it. I'd welcome any knowledgeable feedback, advice, etc.
