I am looking for some plans to build about a 19-20' long 8-8.5' wide catamaran. I don't know if anybody makes any plans for such a widebody design, so any pointers on designing my own would be helpfull. I am primaraily worried about the boat splitting down the middle, and what reinforcements would be needed. I am trying to make a go anywhere fishing boat.

Cool stuff but not what I was looking for. I am talking about a lightweight, (under 800kg, 1,760lbs) Center console, shallow draft, single outboard engine. My goal is to make a boat that can fish the shallow flats and marshes, as well as in 7ft seas. I am opting for the cat design because they have a well know reputation for handeling rough seas as well as a V-hull twice their size, not to mention the improved stability at rest. I do have one more question though, what is the major difference between the twin hull and the tri-hull?

In all honesty your asking for a preaty tall order. There is no question one can be designed to your specs, if one isnt already out there, but expect it to cost a preaty penny. I'll keep my eye open, but searously consider contacting a NA for a project like this.

I know it is a tall order, but I am not trying to build a boring boat. Twinvee builds a 19 foot cat that weighs in at 1200lbs. My problem with that boat is that the beam in too narrow, and the small 36gal fuel tank.

Another problem with those custom builders you recomended is that I live in the US, and they are based overseas. I am probably going to have to build the boat myself.

That boat is only six inches narrower than what you want, but ok, I understand. About the fuel, you could work that one out. Bigger or another tank.

If your talking about my post, that site sells plans.

Now don't take this the wrong way, but if your going to be super picky about a boat(we all are when is involves this much cash), you should just have it drawn up by a pro. There is no point in looking for a boat that is going to be "good enough". Your going to drop alot of cash, and spend alot of time building a boat, make it the one you want. "Good enough, isnt".
