I have noted the beams or akas of the Hobie boats seem to be adapted mast extrusions.

I have also noted that NACRA 5.2 cats use 4-inch OD x 3.7/8 (.875 thick) ID tubes, strapped in place.

My question: Using T6061 tube, what diameter would be most appropriate, 4" or 3" or something in between with similar thickness, at 8 foot beam and 20' LOA?
