Caribbean 600, will the multihull record fall this year?

The multihull record for the Caribbean 600 was set in 2009 by the ORMA 60 trimaran Region Guadaloupe. It narrowly escaped being bettered in 2013 by the flying cruiser/racer trimaran Paradox who fell short by about 11 minutes. This year the MOD70 Phaedo3 (Ex Foncia) will be having a crack at the record and the now turboed Paradox sporting foil assist and an increased sail area with a new extended bowsprit will compete to attempt to claim the crown. The smart money has to go to the MOD70 but I'm hoping that Paradox with Peter Aschenbrenner at the helm will somehow pip them.

    the race tracker:

Weather forecast indicates a reach for a fair bit of the course but lower wind velocity than would be ideal for these big tri's.

Phaedo3 is smashing the record at the moment and could better it by a huge margin they have about 74nm to the finish.

Rambler 88 has nearly finished with only 1.5nm to go, Paradox is in third overall with about 21nm remaining.

Paradox finished in third overall and second in the multihull class at about 8:58 local time. Hard to believe they were outpaced by Rambler 88 even if the conditions were not really in their favour, I'll be interested to hear if they had gear failure.
