Hello! Can anybody please help me get a working bulk carrier midship structure? I need the plates and profiles dimensions so I can make a FEMAP model for my degree's final project.

I tried using DNV-GL Poseidon, but its giving me a lot of bs errors and results. Is there anyone that can actually use this software and give me a walkthrough? Or anything similar. Would even pay for a working structure which i can just reproduce into FEMAP and do my analysis.

I also tried looking into the rules of designing the structure, but they are impossible to comprehend as a first time reader. Will probably need 10 years of experience in the field before i can design a whole structure by myself from scratch.

If anyone is willing to help, i can provide all the principal dimensions and other info i have atm.

    Thanks

Could you show us what you have ?. You need to calculate the scantlings, but have you already made the main sections distribution? Have you defined the separation of frames, the separation of web frames and strong beams, the separation of the secondary reinforcements in bottom, side and deck? How are the hoppers ?. Anyway, do you need help for the calculation of scantlings or what you need is help to design the entire structure?
If someone is going to try to help you, they will need a lot more information.

This sounds fair enough. But you then say:

Well, either you have a structure which you are analysing using Poseidon, or you don't?....can't be both.
    Thus, which is it?

@TANSL Wow, tbh, i didnt understand a lot from what you said. In school we just played with the wizard until it showed red no more and that was it.
I do have 2 ships, one i took from !FREEship database, and the other from an old Japan register. I will provide all the info I have and what have I done.

    this is the FS ship.
I have filled the general data from the freeship info (all but dwt, i approximated it by looking at similar ships online). I created the 1.5 and 1.6 frame tables. Then went to 2.1.2 wizard and just messed with the numbers until it wasnt all red and had a regular BK shape.
Next, i just opened all the 3. tabs (hull structure), before hitting the rules check. It has a lot of errors which my teacher suggested are because of the longitudinal girder between you can see at 0:26 in the video (where the bilge meets the bottom, shouldnt be there), but couldnt come up with any fix. This is pretty much all i know about this poseidon software.

Now for the jap ship, Imgur https://imgur.com/drKiZtH
this is the data i started with.

done the exact same. this one looks a bit better, but the profiles are too big and not all of them are green. Dont know how to fix it either.

    @Ad Hoc
I have the main dimensions such as Lwl/Lpp/B/H/T/DW/cB/speed and I am trying to get to this menu, so i can create one storage room in FEMAP and analyse it

Imgur https://imgur.com/F1t1nkd <- This is what i need, but according to the teacher (which btw, wont help) it has to be all green/blue profiles, and the 370/340 profiles are waaay too big for a 185m BK.

If anyone has knowledge of this software, please help me. I have 4 weeks left to finish the project, and the FEMAP model is waay harder than this bs. I just need the right plates and profiles dimensions

Seems you have everything - yet i'm very confused what you are now seeking - other than someone to show you how to use the software?
If that is all, read the manual or go to Forum websites dedicate to this software.

That, to my mind, only you can do. Assume the lscantlings, plate thickness and profile type and dimensions for reinforcements, and check with the software if they are correct or not.
Completing the wise advice of Ad Hoc, I would recommend you also read the Classification Society Regulations. Not the whole regulation, of course, only the general principles.
Even if someone solves the problem for you, your teacher has put the exercise for you to learn things, so, cheer up! , study and learn. Good luck.

P.S. . By the way, in the picture of the main section you can see the elements constituted by plates but you don't see any of the longitudinal reinforcements of the hull.
