If you go Redwing just be sure to make sure you have room for the steering and control cables. That well is pretty tight on the RW18.

I learned to ski in the 60's behind a 20 hp evinrude . I was already 6ft+ and 200lbs. Little bit draggy getting me up, but once up, towed me fine.

The motor is a restored antique, to keep things in the same times, a boat design from the era is indicated, IMO. Even with a couple of fins on it for authenticity.

I saw a project boat for sale at DOWN UNDER MARINA in Fernandina Beach Fla. 20 ft FRP Chriscraft with cuddycabin and I think it had vestigial fins, not bigones like from 50s. Might still be there. They had lots of project boats abandoned there.

marina is under the high bridge crossing ICW

I said I got dragged! Somebody said some of these 20 hp motors were actually 30 or 35s in disguise. maybe so. I only know I eventually learned how to get up. and the motor hauling me said 20hp on the cowl.
I'm sure there are things you know that I don't. there are things you know more about than I do. But vice versa too. I've no reason to lie about anything and detest lies and lying. If a man can't be trusted to be truthfull, he can't be trusted. and once trust is broken, you can't put humpty dumpty together again.
So, believe me. The cowling said 20 hp and I skiied behind it. :)

:) I'm 63 years old. This year on my birthday I'll be 64, so the learning to ski was 50 years ago. It was a friends boat and motor. I recall saying for many years it was a 20 hp evinrude. I vividly recall being dragged through the water till I thought my arms would pull off, and remember fighting to keep my skiis together. Remember learning to not fight so hard but kinda roll forward over the skiis and stand up and lean back simultaneously. In truth, I don't have a mental picture of the motor in my memory. Only what I recall thinking it was.
