Quite right. Let me re-phrase that :)

The USA military industrial complex - we aim for the enemy, but often hit civilians and infrastructure.

The vessel was transporting the Atlas booster and its Centaur upper stage that will be used to launch the U.S. Air Force’s Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF-2) satellite. That launch is currently scheduled to take place this April. The Delta Mariner was also carrying the interstage adapter for NASA’s Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP) mission, which is currently scheduled to launch in August. According to a press release issued by ULA, the accident should not impact either launch. http://www.americaspace.org/?p=12756 The launches appear on the public Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center calender http://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/events.aspx#2012/4/27/bd5b0e7d-0821-40a9-908d-5ef727c943f1

I haven't seen anything resembling a news "blackout". Rather it sounds like there hasn't been recent developments significant enough to warrant national news coverage. I did find a local paper report that a local firm was supplying divers and small boat assistance.

The enemy considers our civilians and infrastructure to be valid targets, so why the double standard?

There's no double standard - they are murderous cretins too.

A lot of them don't qualify as cretins.

Yes, but the etymology is irrelevant if the word is no longer used in that context. :)
