Boesch Acapulco 580 shaft log

    What is the valve for? The photo looks like it is a water pickup rather than a shaft log. Are you saying the propeller shaft goes through it?

    Back off the camera to give a more comprehensive photo.
    That is most definitely not a shaft log, as it entirely lacks a shaft through it.
    Might have been a shaft log at some point, as the rectangular bronze base plate indicates, possibly modified to become a through hull water intake or exit with a valve?
