Top secret radio show restricted to English speakers. Played on the BBC in the days where radio performers were expected to wear coat & tie etc. "The Goon Show".

Well worth digging up for a listen - will prepare you for active participation in the drivel thread.

    Here’s a good start http://www.thegoonshow.net/

    Another of my favourites…

    Sound effects: Clink clink clink…

Henry Crunn: Excuse me sir, what are you doing?

    Neddy: I’m tuning this piano

Henry Crunn: Oh, I see... Min, he’s tuning the piano you know

Minnie Bannister: But Henry, we don’t have a piano!

Henry Crunn: YES! That’s right modern Min. (addresses Ned) Sir, we don’t have a piano, you’re probably meant to be tuning the one next door…. [thinks] – We used to have a piano but it was stolen. What colour are the keys?

    Ned: Black and white

Min and Henry: It’s ours, it’s ours!

My uncle Dick was a ventriliquist on the BBc radio service, back in 1955.

A dick that could have been seen & not heard - magnificent for radio (or is it the other way round? heard & not seen) - pity about the pay-cheque - in the post, never delivered...:D

Whenever I get all stressed about about the fiddly bits of the design of Bottle of Smoke, my yet-to-be-built concept for a really fast kite-powered, beachable commuter catamaran, I remember the incomparable chorus of Walk Away off Bad Religion's tour de force record Against the Grain:

    Walk (walk away)
    I'll lead a parade
And I'll be determined that no one should dissuade
Walk away I'll take my sweet time
And burn all the bridges that I'm leaving behind....

Mostly because I'm all punk rock like that, yo; and I gotta get into the tao of it.
