'If you want to land a small helicopter on one of your outriggers, we will need to decrease the buoyancy of that arm so that everything will stay balanced when the weight of the helicopter is there.' Erm... maybe that explains the launch 'event'...

Their ad copy about eco friendly and "giving back to the environment" is at the same level as their engineering skills.

Well, they gave it back to the sea as soon as people saw it.

Truth in advertising for once. No one can doubt they gave back.

Wild how the interwebs were almost fully scrubbed of any coverage of tbe after or remarks by the designer.

But it was a good ultimate stability test. I'm guessing it was one of those, 'look, a whale!' And all 50 people inside walked to the edge and found an engineering error.

In the video you can see people streaming off the pod. Just inept management. Too many people, distributed poorly.

At the same time, if 50 people all on one side broke it, let's say worst case 10,000 pounds. The force of a high and nasty wave has to be similar. I suppose the forces of a wave are more lateral, but still... safety factor was not high enough if 5 tons broke it.. Maybe it was 100 people. The designer is probably fighting like hell with them that it was overloaded.
