    Hi Troy,
It is a variant of a traditional river boat used on Danube and Sava rivers. They are called "šiklja" or "čiklja" (pron. sheeklia or cheeklia) and are used mostly for fishing. Usually propelled by oars or by a small outboard. It is yet another regional version of what you know as jon boat. Depending on where it is made, there are variants with flat bottom or with a longitudinally curved bottom. In both cases the bottom and sides remain straight in transverse section, to ease the construction.
One variant of the boat can be seen in this page (in serbian, sorry - try with google translator perhaps): http://web.vip.hr/wturnsek.vip/Ciklja.htm
Others in this nice picture (cut-off bow): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/64/Sisak_siklje_230208.JPG
And there are more modern aluminum versions in this site: http://www.alu-camci.com/aluminijski_camci/alu_cikl.html
    Cheers

Thank you for the information, Daquiri. After you gave me a name for the boat type, I was able to google enough pictures to keep me busy and happy for an hour....
