Hey, I'm new to sailing and boatbuilding in general, I was looking around the wooden boat store for plans on a small robust craft and decided to settle on the RYD 16.2 Murphy by the designer Paul Riccelli.. I followed the link to purchase the plans but sadly found the designer had passed away several years ago and the website looked dead.. I searched far and wide for any information regarding plans with no luck, does anyone know if it's possible at all to track down a set for this boat??

I think you would do yourself a favour by finding a set of plans from a designer who is around to answer any questions that occur as you navigate the challenge of building your first boat. The next best thing would be a user group somewhere or other with extensive collective experience. It saves a lot of anguish and time, not to mention money,if you can ask somebody with the relevant experience how a particular problem was dealt with.

yes I did give a different design a stab but had trouble finding one that met my needs, was looking for a boat that could comfortably hold 3 maybe 4 people, as well as be able to handle coastal waters

Have you had a look at Sam Devlin's designs?
His Egret is of similar size to PAR's Murphy?

Or the open version of Nancy's China?

Or any of the 'dayboats' from Selway Fisher?

    Or this peapod from CLC?

Or the Penobscots from Arch Davis?

There are many other similar designs (to the links above) out there as well.

Thanks for that, yeah the Nancy's china design looks like a good replacement!
