I am choosing my G.C.S.E's in England and I want to be a Naval Architect when I leave Collage. However I'm not sure about what qualifications I need.
I'm doing maths, physics, chemistry, and Design Technology. Is this a good selection? Please reply if you have any other ideas!

You will need to do English as well, so Maths, English and Physics are essential, then pick subjects that you are good at and you are interested in so that you get good grades.

You should also be thinking ahead to A levels or ONC, so check with your local sixth form college to make sure the subjects are compatible with your choice of A levels. Again Maths and Physics would be good ones.

    Good luck

I agree with the need to study Maths, English and Physics and whilst I don't think it's necessary at this stage, it may be useful to contact RINA (www.rina.org.uk) for help with choosing a college course.

From a Student of Yacht Design at Southampton...

This is what I did... (not necessarily the best way, but I am here)

    GCSE:

    English
    French
    Maths
    Physics
    Chemistry
    Biology
    Geography
    Design and Technology
    Classical Civilisation

    AS Levels:
    Chemistry

    A Levels:
    Maths
    Physics
    Electronics

It depends what you're into, but that lot works, English is necessacery at GCSE, but not really necessary afterwards as long as you can pen a convincing report.

    Hope this helps,
