    Good morning all,

I have a question and I'm pretty sure you will have the answer for it.
Besides iron and invar, which is the best material to produce a mold for autoclave (around 90psi pressure and 130ºC temperature) if I want it to last around 40 cicles?
After 40 cicles, the part design may be changed and therefore, I will need a new mold concept.

The geometry might also be complex.

    Thank you

Is this a request for help with a homework project or are we dealing with a production facility looking to make a step into a more technical form of producing parts? If the latter, are there 3D CAD models?

The best mould material is almost always the same material that the component will be made from.that way there are no problems with differential expansion or contraction.even contemplating metal moulds is inviting trouble as well as necessitating some very expensive machining. As the geometry is said to be complex,it is difficult to be specific about the best way to create those moulds.Which is why I originally sought a greater amount of information.Depending on the size of the item, you might be able to forget the expansion of tooling block as it is such a good insulator that with large blocks inside a vacuum bag,the core never achieves the same temperature as the interface between the tooling material and the tooling block. With small parts the expansion of the tooling block will have an effect.
