Do you like potatoes? They and other veggies can be grown in plastic barrels. Take the barrels and plants with you, if you need to relocate! Portable garden. :)

I am looking forward to doing the "Johnny Apple-seed" thing - but NOT apples, but little vege and fruit gardens wherever I stop en-route. :D That way eventually I will have food growing everywhere... and so will many other people who adopt the 'stateless' cruising lifestyle...

    - Oh and who was it poopooing the uses of bamboo? - I have some socks made of bamboo fibre and another very soft pair made of HEMP - Luckily there is NO THC, else my feet would be off on a trip somewhere?

Sounds like a plan! :) French intensive gardening style? That's compatible mutually beneficial/supportive/defensive vegetables planted tightly clumped together. Looks like a dense patch of jungle unless you know where and what it is! :).

I had a pair of bamboo socks. They were really comfortable.

    Hi Hoyt,
Might be cheaper by the dozen...

    Hi Yobarnacle,
That is interesting - Over here Bill Mollison is identified as the man behind "Permaculture" along similar lines but more carefully thought out for larger domestic gardens or "tree-changers" on a 30+ acre block, Key is sustainability, companion planting, perennial cropping used to support annuals...

I like the idea of combining both philosophies... http://forums.permaculture.org.au/index.php for some permaculture links... I call the concept "easy sustainability"...

http://www.kiripark.com.au/paulownia.html is a tree crop I would like to become involved in... except it seems to like colder climates?

HEHEHE in "street Thai" - - gold got smashed yesterday and I see this morning has recovered and gone higher (in $Au terms)... Not quite as big a bounce as in $US denominated markets... http://www.bullionvault.com/gold-price-chart.do The Yen and Canadian markets did not recover that well... - - - yet?

I continue to use gold as my mental evaluation mark, and sometimes silver as a sort of 'economic' barometer as it is the same stuff EVERYWHERE in the world and mostly measured in "troy ounces", grams or Kg depending on the volumes you are accustomed to playing with... gold therefore gives everyone an idea of the value internationally...

So Mass are you talking yobiboos advise? you going gold prospecting now.

Its seems an easy way to make some mast money, but then lots of people have thought so.

If there is gold in then there ills, how will you get there with your boat.

Seems a bit daft to me but--- Hey what about fishing --another one of yobis ideas yeah,---- swimming gold, all you need is a cannery. Im not sure how that bit plays out, I kinda lost interest about that point.

Oh by the way --he thinks he is a Gremlin now you know.

    Hi Frosty,
Still feeling bored and pissed off with things? - bars are open.... Anyhow, I think they are reading my computer with "flame" (but, but, but - that is a windows virus)...

    http://www.moneymorning.com.au/
On one of Frostys must hated websites, as, every time I post from same, he blames me for the content...

"In today's Money Morning:...an element essential to industrial life...a strategic mineral to invest in...what you can expect in Japan...opportunity in the challenge to find new sources of oil...
This 'Strategic' Stock Has Just Doubled: What to Do Next...
    Air.
    Water.
    Berries.
    Beans.
    Nuts.
Without the first, most people will die within a couple of minutes.
Without the second, you could survive for a few days, but that's all.
And according to Forbes magazine, the third, fourth and fifth items are the most important and healthiest food items you can eat.

Bottom line: if you've got access to air, water, berries, beans and nuts, you should be able to at least survive at a subsistence level. - - It's something worth remembering for when economic Armageddon hits the world "
    - - This is a quote - Now Frosty go and have a panic attack down at your local pub....
