AQWA Workbench Hydrodynamic Time Response: LIS file getting too big

Hi,

I am running a multi-body time domain simulation using AQWA workbench. My simulation has 30001 steps (60 s with 0.002s interval).

I have set following options for output:
Do Not Output .LIS Banner Page: Yes
No Data List: Yes
Output Element Properties; No

Still, my .LIS file is getting too big (over 200GB) and the simulation is aborted because my system is running out of space.

It would be very helpful if someone can guide me which option I should alter to avoid this problem.

I am unsure if you can change the print interval in Workbench. I use AQWA-GS and change the print interval using the appropriate Deck 18 commands to limit the size of the .LIS file. See AQWA Reference.chm for the specific commands, as you can control pretty much everything depending on what analysis you're doing.

What version is this, and which time domain module are you running?

I am using AQWA Workbench v14.0. I know you can do a lot of stuff in AQWA-GS, but I started this project to explore the new capabilities using the workbench. But apparently it is inferior in features compared to AQWA-GS.

Anyway, my simulation is running now after correcting my fender definitions. The file size of LIS file is about 3GB which is still very high compared to the AQWA-GS model, but my computer can handle this for now.

You're right, there's a lot of functionality in GS they haven't incorporated into the WB front end.

Hi there,

sorry to hijack this old thread, but is there any way to decrease the time step for a certain period in the analysis, in order to refine the maximum fender load analysis? As in, can you run a simulation from 2600s - 3000s at 0.01s time step in order to view the max load at (e.g.) 2983.2s, which has occured during a low res three hour simulation?

I'm struggling to find a way to decrease my time step for long simulations in order to correctly analyse snap loads.

I am using AQWA with workbench (14.5).
