    Just another power boat.
Looks a lot like one Greenpeace was using.

No doubt its stunning, can I see one I can purchase?

    IMHO

This is a lot like today's Yahoo article about Kardasian going without underwear. Who really cares? Even her husband doesn't look interested.

Not exactly true...and also, you obviously read the article on Kardashian. So, more interesting than you are claiming?

So its not like the one Greenpeace trashed?
I always like women with no underwear.
It was barely a good enough pic to imagine such a fact. It's also an everyday thing now days.
The fact that it was kardasian left me completely cold.

Earthrace? That wasn't a Greenpeace boat. I bet it's the one you're thinking of. Maybe not...

    Adastra is 139 ft.
    Earthrace was 78 ft.

Adastra has a 52 ft beam.
Earthrace had a 23 ft beam.

Adastra has a speed of 22 knots
Earthrace had a speed of 32 knots

Adastra has a range of 4,000 nautical miles
Earthrace had a range of 2,500 nautical miles between refueling (?) there's some conflicting info on this.

They both have three hulls and futuristic silver curves ;)

    Now you are getting nit-picking.

Same concept, just some different numbers.

Who was it ran the boat into a Japanese Whaler?
    Greenpeace.

    Don't bother correcting me, I don't care.

You are wrong upchurchmr. It wasn't greenpeace. It was a TV show called sea shepherd.

I agree, similar hull concept. I get the connection. Both trimarans with similar futuristic appearance and not totally different proportions (although different.)
Big difference in "numbers". Earthrace displaced 13 tons. Adastra displaces 64 tons loaded. Earthrace was purpose designed as a record breaker. Adastra is designed as a fully fitted luxury yacht.
I guess you would look at the AC45 and the AC72 and say they're the same boat too...

    FFS.
Adastra is not an original idea as being proposed, Earthrace was the original (maybe).
Earthrace was built to set the world record circumnavigation by a powerboat and did it on biodiesel.
Earthrace was then gifted to Sea Shepherd which is not a TV show but an anarchic Environmental group who go up against the Jap "research" whalers amongst other efforts. It was lost when rammed by a whaler.
If one had Adastra, Kardashians would be dime a dozen.

Sorry, you are right Redreuben. The group was sea shepard. The tv show about them was called whale wars on animal planet.
Very few original ideas that don't come from something else. Cable & Wireless Adventurer was an earlier trimaran for another record attempt.

When I was on a Whittley monohull committee boat recently doing race starts and finishes and anchored in amongst the wind against tide chop I was dreaming of multihulls being more common as we rolled miserably.

Can someone explain to me why the amas are so tiny on these power tris, reminds me of a T-Rex's front limbs, seemingly out of proportion to everything else, but I'm sure there's a reason, obviously different to a sail tri that needs more substance to resist heeling from wind pressure, but you wonder about bad weather and big beam seas.

At what point in design does a stabilised monohull become a trimaran...or vice versa?

Is absolutely stunning to see it in real life...

On the basis of it's all been done before...have a look at this unsuccessful world speed water record from 1952
