WHAT to do with a boat you dont want?

i have a boat i dont want. what can i do? thanks guys.

Sell the trailer. But the buyer has to take the boat as well.

 

No, don't tell me- thats how you ended up with it, you bought the trailer.

 

This is the usual approach and a fine idea it is.

 

Launch it at the Mentone slipway when the wind is blowing offshore, at 2 am in the morning. Hint - dont get on it yourself.

Or do what I did with an unwanted project - take it to an open area storage place, and give them a false name and phone number, and never go back!

 

Sawsall and a dumpster is the way I disposed of my last boat, though beware that dumps typically charge by the pound, and my dump fee totaled about $200. No cheap.

i want to take it to the dump but that would cost heaps for this boat i think!! must be a way! lol and i dont want to get rid of it the right way hahaha good ideas tho.

A couple of gambits I learned when I was in the Keys-

1. Wait for the Govt to declare a national emergency then haul it to the side of the road as storm debris. The Keys really needed the 2004 hurricane season, we were really getting buried in boats and golf carts and such. Hadn't had an emergency cleanup since hurricane Andrew.

2. Post a photo of a sistership in nice condition in the grocery and laundrymat with a reasonable price on it. When the phone rings, you gotta be honest- you aren't quite finished with the rebuild yet, but you're willing to sell it cheaper if they want to finish it up. Not that I've ever done such a thing, but you'll be amazed...

 

Hoyt, I've seen 25 tons of busted up dock disappear in a three yard dumpster over time. Trash co requires all trash to be bagged, so it was.
